Paper and cardboard are generally cellulose-based natural materials. However, due to additives and chemicals used during the manufacturing, printing, or coating processes, there may be a risk of migration of harmful substances into food.<\/p>\n
From the perspective of consumer health, certain chemicals used in paper and cardboard materials (such as mineral oils, dioxins, heavy metals, formaldehyde, and optical brighteners) may migrate into food.<\/p>\n
These substances may have toxic, allergenic, or carcinogenic effects over the long term.<\/p>\n
From the perspective of regulatory compliance, in T\u00fcrkiye, the Turkish Food Codex Regulation on Food Contact Materials and Articles, and in Europe, Regulation (EC) No. 1935\/2004, Regulation (EU) 2023\/2006, and the recommendations of the BfR (German Federal Institute for Risk Assessment) require that all food contact materials undergo migration testing to demonstrate their safety. Specific migration tests provide the fundamental data required to support the Declaration of Compliance (DoC).<\/p>\n
