• It provides consumers with accurate information about the product’s energy (calorie) content and nutritional values.
• It determines key nutritional parameters such as energy (calories), fat, saturated fat, carbohydrates, sugars, protein, salt, and dietary fiber.
• It supports the manufacturer’s legal and scientific responsibility regarding the product.
• Under the Turkish Food Codex Food Labelling Regulation, the nutritional values declared on the label must be supported by reliable analytical data.

New Regulation: Calorie Declaration Becomes Mandatory in Food Service Establishments

Transparency and consumer awareness are no longer limited to packaged foods. In line with the regulations issued by the Turkish Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, restaurants, cafés, hotels, catering companies, and other food service establishments will also be required to provide consumers with energy (calorie) and nutritional information for the foods they serve.

Compliance Timeline

• 01 July 2026: National chain businesses
• 31 December 2026: Businesses operating three or more branches within the same province
• 31 December 2027: All other food service establishments
