Animal DNA Testing

The number of consumers adopting a vegan lifestyle is increasing every year, leading to growing demand for vegan food, vegan cosmetic products, and vegan textile products.

In cosmetic products, ingredients of animal origin such as carmine, lanolin, collagen, elastin, animal-derived glycerin, and keratin may be used. In contrast, vegan products contain no ingredients of animal origin and are often labelled as “Cruelty Free”, indicating that no animal testing has been carried out and reflecting a commitment to respecting animal welfare.

In our laboratory, Animal DNA (Vegan) Testing is performed using the Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (Real-Time PCR) method to verify “free from” claims, in accordance with the Guideline on the Types of Certification Used to Substantiate Claims for Cosmetic Products published by the Turkish Medicines and Medical Devices Agency (TİTCK), helping manufacturers provide reliable products to consumers.
